For people who don’t know Bowral, can you explain what kind of town it is? What brings people to Bowral?
Bowral is an English style country town with multi seasonal changes, beautiful country views and is most famous for its gardens. People visit Bowral for its choice of shopping experiences, restaurants, hotel accommodation and golf courses all within 1.5 hours from Sydney.
What sets Sandy Short Style apart? Why do customers love coming to your boutique?
We are not part of a chain, nor are we a high street fashion store. We look for a point-of-difference in labels. We carry select brands that are not available on the high street. We have originality of labels and a salon boutique experience.
Why did you decide to open your business?
A love of fashion.
What tips would you give a person if they were planning to start a business?
Understand your product, be prepared to give 100% service and surround yourself with people you enjoy and share your passion.
What’s your idea of a great day in the store? What makes you excited about coming to work?
The special feeling that you have when you give someone an enjoyable experience and they are happy with the outcome. And, working with our beautiful products and colleagues.

Why is it so important to support Australian fashion labels?
Many of our customers have favourite European labels, however we are also able to showcase, quality, independent and original Australian designs. Sustainable fashion is another important part of our business.
We believe that quality Australian designs are well received.
What does quality mean to you?
Quality means to us that we do not support fast and disposable fashion.
What is the most fulfilling aspect of running a boutique with this ethos?
A feeling of true satisfaction.
What influences your purchasing choices for your store?
Quality of the fabric. Sustainability. Value for money. Cut and design.
Do you have an all-time favourite MIA knit?
It's got to be the Ribbed Roll Neck. It's the perfect cut and fit!
