These tips will ensure you remain close knit… with your favourite knits.

It’s a well-known fact that knitwear is traditionally worn in Winter. In fact you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't wear some form of knitwear during this season. Well guess what... Winter is just around the corner. The cooler days are starting to out weigh the warm and we’re starting to wear knitwear a LOT more.  Our Autumn/Winter 22 collection is on heavy rotation...

In saying that, a wardrobe refresh is always a good idea when the seasons start to change. If it’s been a while and you're realising your cashmere needs a bit of a pick me up after being stored away, you can follow our recommendations below.

 Minimal washing required (yay!)

Cashmere is often thought of as a high maintenance fibre and while the thought of washing your garment can be slightly terrifying, the good news is that you don’t need to wash it after every wear.  This is due to the fibres breathability and moisture wicking properties – we recommend washing your cashmere as often as it gets dirty.

Unnecessarily washing your cashmere too often can result in wearing down the fibres.

When you do have to commit to a wash, the trick to keeping it looking fresh and new comes down to washing it correctly. As tempting as it may be to chuck it in the wash, you may end up with a baby-sized sweater. Make sure to hand wash your garment in luke warm water with cashmere approved shampoo.

If your cashmere has been stored away for a while, you can give it a quick wash at the start of the season. We recommend a jiggle round in a shallow bath.

In an instance where you drop a bit of food or realise that wine you had in your hand was starting to tip and low and behold its suddenly on your jumper, spot treatment is your best bet.  Try not to let the stain dry, and treat it right away.

How you store your cashmere matters

We don’t recommend hanging your cashmere. Knits and clothes hangers have never been the best of friends, so keep your cashmere folded and flat.  You’d be surprised how much of an impact correct storage practice has on prolonging the life of your knit.

Whether you pack your knits away during the warmer months or like to keep them neat and tidy in your wardrobe, storing them in a cashmere bag can make all the difference. Not only does this keep your knit safe from moths and midgies looking for a snack, but it helps keep it in shape (if only it were that easy for us!)

Protect at all costs

Speaking of moths and midgies, you'll want to add an extra layer of protection to keep your knit in tip top shape. We recommend hanging a sandalwood garment protector wherever you store your knitwear. Moths are attracted to dirty garments so when it gets to the end of the winter season, ensure you wash your garment before storing it away for an extended period of time.
